Kemy & Surin - The Designer

About Kemy & Surin’s designer

Zuhri, is a self taught fashion designer who loves to include ethnic and abstract designs in his work.

His designs are usually a fusion of east and west, giving a new modern look to his baju kebayas. An example of his work: he has designed the kebaya kimono in such a way that it has a stylish Japanese collar baju kebaya with a Malay-styled sarong.

His baju kurungs have a touch of both modern and classic look. His signature baju kurung for Kemy & Surin would be the “Baju Kurung Tun Fatimah”. It has a white baju kurung top with classic-designed kerawang which comes with a black kain kurung with silver ethnic designs both which are done by the Baba Nyonya in Melaka

Kemy & Surin specializes in various kinds of silk, especially Thai and raw silk. Colours play an important role in each design. He is also fond of using dwi-sutera in his designs, which is the combination of two different kind of silk: plain Thai/raw silk for his tops and kain lukis tangan (hand drawn designs) for his sarongs.

Zuhri’s designs are fresh, simple yet glamorous and can be worn by ladies of all sizes and ages.
